RM Calendar ("the App," "we," "us") is developed by Aaron Thayer ("the Developer"). RM Calendar helps returned missionaries plan their schedule, keep track of the friends, family, recent converts, and people they've been on dates with, and manage weekly and monthly goals, including tracking a recent convert's progress along the covenant path. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App collects, how it's used, who it's shared with, and the choices and rights you have. By using the App, you agree to the practices described here.
Summary
In short: the App stores the account, calendar, contact, and goal-tracking information you enter so it can sync across your devices. We don't sell your data, we don't share it with data brokers or advertisers, and we don't run any analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. Your data is protected by database-level access rules so that only you can read or write it, and you can permanently delete your account and every piece of data tied to it at any time from within the App.
Information We Collect
Account Information
To create and secure your account, we collect an email address and, depending on how you sign in, a name and password:
- Email and password: if you sign up directly, we (through our authentication provider, Supabase) store your email address and a securely hashed password. We never see or store your password in plain text. To confirm the email address is yours, we send a 6-digit verification code to it, which you enter in the App before your account is created.
- Google Sign-In: if you choose to sign in with Google, Google shares your name and email address with the App to create and authenticate your account. We do not receive your Google password.
- Apple Sign-In: if you choose to sign in with Apple, Apple shares your name and email address (or a private relay email address, if you choose to hide your email) with the App. We do not receive your Apple ID password.
If you sign in with email and password and later need to reset it, we send a similar 6-digit code by email rather than a clickable link, so that you can set a new password directly in the App without contacting us.
Account information is required to use the App. There is no anonymous or guest mode, because your data needs an account to sync and be recoverable if you switch or reinstall the App.
Information About the People You Track
The App's core purpose is to help you organize and follow up with people. For each person you add, you may choose to enter:
- Name
- Status (e.g., a category like "Recent Converts," "Friends," "Members," or a relationship/dating status such as "Potential Dates" or "1+ Dates")
- Phone number, WhatsApp number, and Facebook Messenger handle
- Physical address (used only to open the location in a maps app such as Apple Maps or Google Maps when you tap it; the App does not geocode, track, or otherwise process this address itself)
- Gender (asked only if you use the covenant-path/ordinance-tracking feature below, since it determines which milestones apply)
- Free-text notes
Please note: because this information is about other people rather than about you, it may be entered without those individuals having created an account or agreed to this Privacy Policy themselves. You are responsible for having the right to store this information about someone else and for using it appropriately, for example in line with your own organization's or community's guidelines for keeping records about the people you interact with. We store this information only to provide the App's features to you and do not use it for any other purpose.
Covenant Path / Recent Convert Progress (Optional)
If you turn on the covenant-path tracker for someone in your People list, the App stores which milestones (e.g., baptism, confirmation, priesthood ordination, patriarchal blessing, endowment, sealing) you've manually marked as complete for that person. This is a manually-entered checklist; the App does not verify or independently record religious ordinances. This feature reflects religious information about a third party, is entirely optional, is off by default, and is only stored if you choose to use it.
Contacts You Import
If you grant the App access to your device's address book and choose to import contacts, we read the name, phone number, and other contact details of the specific contacts you select and add them to your People list, where they're treated like any other person you've entered (see above). The App does not read your entire address book automatically, does not import anyone you don't explicitly pick, and does not access your contacts for any purpose other than this one-time import.
Calendar Events
Titles, dates, times, notes, event type, color, recurrence rules, and the people you associate with each event (e.g., who a visit or lesson is with, and how you contacted them: phone, text, WhatsApp, in person, etc.).
Goals
The goal names, icons, weekly or monthly targets, and counts you set up and track, plus which event types are linked to which goals.
App Settings
Your preferences, such as theme (light/dark/system), accent colors, language, week start day, calendar display range, default contact method, preferred maps app, and reminder settings. These personalize the App for you and are not used for any other purpose.
Identifiers
Your account is associated with a unique user ID (assigned by our authentication provider) that we use to store your data and keep it separated from every other user's data.
Information We Do Not Collect
The App does not collect your precise or approximate device location, does not access your device's advertising identifier, does not use cookies or web tracking technologies, and does not collect analytics, crash reports, or usage/behavioral data of any kind.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information above solely to provide and sync the App's features: creating and authenticating your account, storing the data you enter, syncing it across your devices, generating on-device reminders, and letting you delete it. We do not use your information for:
- Advertising (ours or third-party)
- Analytics, profiling, or behavioral tracking
- Personalization or recommendations beyond the settings you choose yourself
- Training AI or machine-learning models
- Sale, rental, or sharing with data brokers or marketers
Who We Share Information With
We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own advertising or marketing purposes. We only share information with the following service providers, each of which processes it solely to help us operate the App on our behalf:
- Supabase: our backend database and authentication provider. All account and app data described above is stored on Supabase's servers (protected by row-level security policies that restrict every row to the account that created it) so it can sync across your devices. See Supabase's Privacy Policy.
- Google Sign-In: if you choose to sign in with Google, Google processes your sign-in credentials. See Google's Privacy Policy.
- Apple Sign-In: if you choose to sign in with Apple, Apple processes your sign-in credentials. See Apple's Privacy Policy.
We do not use any advertising, analytics, or tracking SDKs in the App, so no data is shared with ad networks, analytics providers, or data brokers. We may disclose information if required to do so by law, subpoena, or other legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of the Developer, our users, or others, but we are not aware of any such disclosure ever having occurred.
If the App's business is ever transferred (e.g., a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets), your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We'll notify you via the App or this page if that happens and your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
Notifications
The App can schedule local reminder notifications (a daily review reminder and per-event reminders) directly on your device using your device's operating system. These are generated and delivered entirely on-device: no notification content, schedule, or device push token is ever sent to us or any third party. Notifications only fire if you grant the App permission, and you can turn them off at any time in the App's settings or your device's system settings.
Data Security
We take reasonable technical measures to protect your information:
- Data is encrypted in transit between your device and our servers (HTTPS/TLS).
- Our database enforces row-level security so that every request is scoped to the authenticated account that owns it. There is no code path by which one user's data is returned for another user's account.
- Passwords are hashed by our authentication provider and are never stored or visible to us in plain text.
- We do not embed any third-party advertising or analytics SDKs that could independently collect or transmit your data.
No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at the email below.
Data Storage, Retention, and Deletion
Your data is stored locally on your device (so the App works fully offline) and synced to our Supabase database so it's available across your devices and preserved if you reinstall the App. We retain your data for as long as your account remains active.
You can permanently delete your account and every piece of data associated with it (every person, event, goal, and setting) at any time by going to Settings → Account → Delete Account within the App. This action is irreversible and removes your data from our servers immediately; there is no "soft delete" or recovery window. If you'd rather we do it for you, email us at the address below from the address associated with your account. Uninstalling the App alone does not delete your account or the copy of your data stored on our servers. You'll need to use the in-app deletion or contact us.
Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your location, you may have rights under laws such as the EU/UK GDPR, or U.S. state privacy laws (e.g., California's CCPA/CPRA), including the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate information (most of this can be done directly in the App)
- Export a copy of your data
- Delete your personal information (see "Data Storage, Retention, and Deletion" above for the fastest way to do this yourself)
- Withdraw consent for any processing based on consent, such as the optional covenant-path feature or contacts import
- Object to or restrict certain processing
We do not sell personal information and have not done so in the preceding 12 months, so there is nothing to opt out of in that respect. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the email below; we'll respond within a reasonable time and any timeframe required by applicable law. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
International Data Transfers
The App and its service providers may process and store your information in the United States or other countries where our providers operate. If you use the App from outside these locations, you understand your information will be transferred to, stored, and processed there, which may have data protection laws different from those of your country.
Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under that age. If we learn that we've inadvertently collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us at the email below.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to the App or applicable law. We'll post any changes here and update the "Last updated" date above; if a change is material, we'll make reasonable efforts to notify you within the App. Your continued use of the App after a change becomes effective constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
